At 4 p.m. on Wednesday on October 16 a ATR propeller aircraft crashed in Mekong River towards the southern Laotian province Champasak. It was a Laos Airline plane that crashed in the river and 44 people died in the crash. Remnants of Typhoon Nari has been hitting the area. Champasak capital had received around 4 inches of rain since Tuesday. Witnesses said that the plane crashed due to bad weather, but it is not final yet if that is the cause. There has been a total of 10 commercial aircraft crashes this year alone. The Laos plane crash is the 10th crash this year. Most of these plane crashes are international commercial airplane companies ranging from 2 deaths all the way to 307 deaths.
